Yasuhiko Yoshikazu My Back Pages, 50 anni di carriera fra animazione e manga

Il 25 novembre prossimo uscirà in Giappone un prezioso volume “Yasuhiko Yoshikazu My Back Pages“, In oltre 500 pagine il giornalista Makoto Ishii ha riunito, organizzandola, risistemandola, arricchendola con illustrazioni e manga, la lunghissima intervista a Yasuhiko Yoshikazu da lui realizzata e proposta in capitoli sulla rivista “CONTINUE” (Ohta Publishing) dal Vol.54 (luglio 2018) -Vol.62 (Novembre 2019).

Fin dalla Cover, davvero bella, firmata dallo stesso Yas, in cui riprende i 40 personaggi più importanti da lui creati è chiaro lo scopo del volume: ripercorre la oramai cinquantennale carriera fra mondo dell’animazione e manga di Yoshikazu Yasuhiko.

Dai complicati esordi, ricordiamo le illustrazioni per la light novel di “Crusher Joè“, scritta da Haruka Takachiho, il successo ottenuto grazie a Mobile Suit Gundam, in cui consumò tantissime energie, prima, e successivamente con il non dimenticato “Giant Gorg,” ed il manga Arion, che lo fece conoscere anche come mangaka.

I lungometraggi a cui ha lavorato, dalla trilogia cinematografica di Gundam Rx 78, di cui curò la regia in collaborazione con Yoshiyuki Tomino, alla sua breve intensa carriera come regista unico, da Venus Wars, ad Arion, Lavori tutti di grande intersse, in Vensu Wars si mescolavano sequenze animate e dal vivo,ma che non ebbero i successi attesi al botteghino, alla scelta definitiva di consacrarsi al mondo dei manga a carattere storico, genere molto in auge in Giappone.

Al Ritorno su Gundam, dapprima con il fortunatissimo manga “Gundam Origini“, in cui, partendo dalla sua esperienza con la Trilogia Cinematografica, e basandosi sui dossier della Sunrise dedicati all’opera ( ricordo a tutti che l’anime originariamente doveva essee di 52 episodi), ha dato una propria versione della saga di Mobile Suit Gundam, dei suoi personaggi – talora sollevando critiche – ricostruendo, con la sua abilità di mangaka, la storia mai narrata della Repubblica di Munzo e degli anni precedenti allo scoppio della One year War. Un’opera di grande efficacia e interesse, come confermato dal successo dell’adattamento animato, che però ha coperto solo in parte l’affresco realizzato dal manga, concentrandosi sul rapporto fra Char e Sayla, e sulla conquista del potere ad opera della Famiglia Zabi, e le prima terribile settimana di guerra…

Yas, lo ricordiamo, stà ancora lavorando su Gundam Origini, mentre stà realizzando il suo ultimo manga, Inio et Asano.

Si tratta di un volume imperdibile per chi voglia approfondire l’opera di Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, studiarne il percorso, anche umano, ed attraverso questo ripercorrere un periodo ben importante delle produzioni nipponiche. Il volume, reperibile anche su Amazon Japan, e Rakuten è in lingua nipponica ed al momento non abbiamo notizia di traduzioni opzionate. Siamo consapevoli, che il mercato italiano, purtroppo, non è molto generoso di questo tipo di saggi, ma vogliamo sperare, almeno, in un’edizione in lingua inglese.
